Research and Development 04/10/15 (News Brief - Development part 1)

Last time we came up with a name and a brand for our news channel, "Filmpass News with our slogan being "Films worth seeing". With the colour brand in mind as well (Green and Black) I set to work on our website, I used the online website builder Weebly and with the help of Adobe Photoshop I managed to do a quick test background for our website for Filmpass News.

Development
  • This was the first draft of the website:

Package Story Idea
  • The BFI London Film Festival and getting the insider to this event
  • Our interviewee is Corinner Downing the Education Manager of the BFI
  • We would have other footage around the facility to set the location before the interview
  • I would be the one to do the interview to represent to my group

Recording the journey to the BFI:

Next came to our first recording in London where Plamen got us access to the London BFI building where I was to be filmed as a presenter to interview the education manager Corrina Downing, who had agreed to have an interview with us about the up coming London Film Festival. Our story idea was that the London Film Festival was going to screen 3 major film which would have their first ever Europe premier on their European tour. Steve Jobs directed by Danny Boyle, Suffragette directed by Sarah Gavron and Trumbo directed by Jay Roach.

My interviewee would give us the run down to these 3 films and then give us inside information about the festival itself,  which celebrities will be there, and the shear scale of how many films there will be.

It was a quick and successful interview and while Plamen had to remain behind to do our pieces of work, me and Alex decided to take advantage of being in London and go round and film anything that could prove useful to us when it came to introducing our story.

The only thing that could of gone better would be the weather it just made London look dull but as they say, we can't control the weather so we had to make due of what we had.

  1. It looks like you got some great access here to your interviewee, but your research journal does not show this process - remember to evidence the research which you do in order to prepare to film rather than describe what has happened. You need to use the journal to demonstrate your understanding more clearly.
